Gettysburg, Pennsylvania April 20th-23rd, 2006 |

Scouts in Troop 83 earned the Gettysburg Historic Trails Award by hiking
approximately 19 miles in two days. Scouts visited major landmarks on the
battlefield, climbed to the summit of Little Roundtop and re-enacted Pickett's Charge. Troop 83 was hosted during our visit at Camp Tuckahoe, the main campground for the York-Adams Area Council.

Parris Island, South Carolina January 13th-15th, 2006 |

Troop 83 visited the United States Marine Corps Recruit Depot and spent the
weekend with off-duty Drill Instructors. Scouts were introduced to marching
in formation, making their beds the military way, and the obstacle course.
They also had an opportunity to observe recruits at various stages of their
training.

Beach Cleaning Bash, Ocean Isle Beach September 31st-October 2nd, 2005 |

We visited Ocean Isle Beach, NC and helped with the Beach Cleaning Bash. Scouts also enjoyed swimming and playing on the beach. On Sunday, scouts were treated to a tour of the Museum of Costal Carolina

Washington DC Trip March 31st - April 2nd, 2005 |

Troop 83 visited Washington DC during Spring Break. The scouts were hosted by
Congressman Hayes' office for a tour of the House of Representatives. Later, the troop
visited Arlington National Cemetary and watched the changing of the guard at the
tomb of the unknown soldier.
The troop also toured many of the Smithsonian Museums, the Lincoln Memorial and the Mall. Scouts did most of the visit on foot and hiked about 15 miles during our stay in our nations capital. Scouts visiting Washington include:

Fort Bragg Trip January 7th-9th, 2005 |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Troop 83 visited Fort Bragg and had a very busy weekend. The scouts met with soldiers from
the 5th PSYOPs unit, visited the shotgun range, ate Army chow and spent their evenings in an
Army recreation center.

Beach Cleaning Bash, Ocean Isle Beach September 17th-19th, 2005 |

We visited Ocean Isle Beach, NC and helped with the Beach Cleaning Bash. This event
was Tommy and Dayne's Star service project. Scouts visited a planetarium and worked on the
Astronomy Merit Badge.

Troop 83 visited Grandfather Mountain near Boone, NC the weekend of August 15th-17th. We hiked over 5 miles with a 2,800 foot change in elevation. The following scouts completed the trek:

The following scouts successfully completed the 50 mile cycling event at the New River State Park in
Virginia:
